Mosel Wines
The best wines are from the slaty, mineral rich slopes around the river Mosel and are made from the Riesling grape.
Keep an eye out for the distinctive green bottles and the wines are mostly designed to be drunk young and despite being made with the long living Riesling grape, do not keep particularly well.
The best Rieslings come from the south facing slopes around the villages of Piesport, Branueberg, Wehlen and Erden.
