Veneto wines
Veneto can be found in north east Italy with its northern most tip kissing Austria. If you’re doing a spot of ski-ing in this area then make sure you stop buy to taste some of the Soaves and Valpolicellas of the region.
Soave is the second largest DOC after Chianti and is an easy drinking white wine made from the Garganega grape, usually blended with up to 30% of Trebbiano.
Valpolicella has always been popular with the British market and is a light, fruity red wine drunk young and made with the Corvina grape.
Veneto is also the home of some Prosecco wines – sparkling white wine that is often served as an alternative to champagne in Italian restaurants.
